How To Play The Cornhole Game

Friday, August 1st, 2008

There are a lot of games that are available to be played today, but too often the younger generation turns to video games, instead of going outside. In order to get people outside more, there has to be a good reason for them to do so. They have to feel that whatever they are going to get to do outside has merit, is fun, or will be worthwhile. One of the games that everyone can play and enjoy outside is the Cornhole game. This game is very easy to play both physically and intellectually, but it is also a lot of fun. This makes it popular with families in many areas of the country, and it also helps to bring the enjoyment of the game to people who might have previously not been aware of it. To play the Cornhole game, a person can buy a set or he or she can build a set. Basic woodworking tools and skills are all that are needed for a person to make his or her own Cornhole board, and the bags can be made from simple materials with basic sewing skills. However, deciding whether to build or to buy is a completely personal choice. The important thing is to do what feels right to get a set and then use it with family and friends.

To actually play the Cornhole game, a person needs to learn only very simply rules. The Cornhole board is two feet by three feet in size, with a hole in it. It is designed to set at an angle. The people who are playing the game stand a specific distance from the board, and they throw the bags at the board. Naturally, the goal is to get the bags to go through the hole, thereby scoring valuable points. If a person cannot get a bag through the hole but the bag lands on the board and remains there without falling off, points are also scored. However, this is not worth as much as actually getting the bag through the hole. The first person or team to reach twenty one points is declared the winner. These are very simple rules, and because of this almost everyone is able to understand how the game should be played. The very young to the very old can enjoy playing the game with friends and family members, helping it to gain popularity all across the country.

Another important feature that makes the Cornhole game so popular is that it is not physically demanding. The bags are not at all heavy, and they are not difficult to throw. They are gently tossed from a reasonable distance, not pitched like a baseball, so almost anyone could partake of the game without feeling as though he or she was struggling too much with the bags or exerting himself or herself too much. This is particularly important for very young children, the elderly or infirm, or people with chronic medical conditions that severely limit their levels of activity. Because it is so easy to play the Cornhole game, it is something that basically every person could play and enjoy.

Do Not Let Fear Affect Your Game

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Sometimes, fear and anxiety can get the best of us in sports. The key is to know how to manage that fear and anxiety. As a result, here is a brief list of techniques that an athlete can use to help manage their fears and every day anxieties.

Occasionally, we you may become stressed when we have to play in an important round. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance, you have to play in the championship golf game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that you are playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress of a coming situation.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, a person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem. A person could read the newspaper, listen to some music or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things. This is a great technique to use right before your next game.

Another technique that is very helpful is to have a small notebook of positive statements that you can carry around with you. Whenever you come across an affirmation that makes you feel good, write it down in a small notebook that you can carry around with you. Whenever you feel stressed, open up your small notebook and read those statements. This will help to manage your negative thinking.

When you experience some anxiety and fear, try to figure out what works for you. For instance, you have a lot of anxiety and you decide to take a small walk before your game to help you feel better. The next time you feel anxious you can remind yourself that you got through it the last time by taking a walk. This will give you the confidence to manage your anxiety the next time around.

If you are still having trouble then you will need to talk to a professional. There is nothing wrong with seeking assistance to overcome your fears. It is kind of like learning how to ride a bicycle. You might need some assistance to find out to ride a bike and that means getting help from someone. Once your learn how to do it, riding a bike will be second nature. This applies to overcoming your anxieties. You should talk to a counselor and he or she will give you some advice on how to manage your stress. Eventually you will know what to do when the anxiety comes back.

Remember that patience, persistence, and education will go a long way in preventing fear from becoming a factor in your game.

Playing The Numbers Game

Monday, July 21st, 2008

When I first started in sales and marketing over 25 years ago my manager made one thing completely clear from the beginning – selling anything to anyone is a numbers game. The more people you put your product in front of, the more you will sell. Even a really poor salesperson will make some sales if their activity means they put their product in front of enough prospects. Now you can improve the numbers by being a better salesperson, having a great product or by being smart about targeting your audience but whichever way you cut it, selling is a numbers game.

None more so is this true than with internet marketing. Derek Gehl who is CEO of the Internet Marketing Center and one of the best internet marketers in the world openly admits that his conversion rates are about 1 in 1,000. Think about that for a moment, Derek has to get 1,000 visitors to make just one sale. Now Derek has made over $60m worth of sales in the past 8 or 9 years but he has only achieved this because he has generated millions and millions of visitors to his sites.

Actually, we have a better success rate at netSuccess Partners than Derek’s average. Around 1 in 300 visitors that we send to the Internet Marketing Center ends up making a purchase. That’s because we use a pre-sell strategy. We provide our visitors with an overview of the opportunity through a short review so that when they click thru to Derek’s site they are already interested – we call this a qualified prospect. Nonetheless, we still have to send 300 qualified prospects to make a single sale. That my friends, is the harsh reality of internet marketing.

Now I compare that to when I was at my peak as a face-to-face salesperson. I worked in an environment where I was being presented with qualified prospects and my sales conversion over an 18 month period was over 90%. That is, over 90% of people who I had a meeting with bought what I was selling. But the thing is they could look into my eyes and decide whether to trust me. I could show them the product and get their reaction. I could ask them about their circumstances and explain how the product would help them.

As internet marketers we simply don’t have these luxuries. Our visitors decide whether to trust us based on the website image and message. And given that many people have already made a bad purchase online, their starting point is not to trust what we are telling them. We can only guess whether the product will be good for them by profiling an outline of their potential circumstances – in the case of our netSuccess sites this means we are presuming they are looking for methods and tools to help them make money online or to help them improve the performance of their own website.

Let me ask you something. If you walked down the street giving away $10 bills do you know what would happen? Surprisingly, not everyone would take the money off you because some people would be wondering what the catch was. We find this on our netSuccess Matrix site. We give away four free gifts on the site, all of them aimed at helping people improve their online success. But here’s the thing, we have to get about 35 visitors before one of them accepts a free gift.

When you see this statistic, you begin to see why you have to get 300 visitors before you can make a sale. And remember, we are doing pretty well with this rate because Derek Gehl has to get 1,000 visitors to make a sale.

When I look at how our members perform with their promotional activities, I think many people just do not understand the harsh realities of the internet marketing numbers game.

Some people join and don’t promote the site we give them – well hey, we might have a great website but it’s not a magic website!

The majority of people join and maybe promote their site for a week or so, typically sending between 10 and 100 visitors to the site we give them. And then they give up, almost certainly because they haven’t sold anything so they have decided to move onto the next opportunity.

A few people (about 10% of members) stick with it and follow the advice we give them in the members’ area. They check out the traffic ideas and get active. And guess what, these are the people who make the money out of our programs. It’s not rocket science. As soon as you accept that internet marketing is a numbers game you realize that what you need to do is find one or two great products and just promote, promote, promote.

If you hop from one opportunity to another, you will get lucky every now and then but by and large you won’t make much money. If you don’t promote at all, you will not earn a dime and frankly, if you fall into this category, you might as well shut your computer down and go and do something more productive with your life. As I say to our members, if you really want to make money online you need to focus on a small number of top quality opportunities and just go out there and promote them like made. You also need to be patient because people do not necessarily buy the products you are selling on impulse. Often they will bookmark a site and revisit later and sometimes they might need to wait for their next paycheck before buying.

They key qualities you need to have to be successful at internet marketing are:

1. Focus – Keep to just a small number of products
2. Effort – You have to invest time and/or money promoting these products
3. Patience – Stick with it and the money will follow.

Internet marketing is a numbers game – plain and simple. At netSuccess Partners we are continuously working on ways of improving the numbers for our members. We are integrating all our products to harness the power of viral marketing. We are making sure that only the best converting products appear on our sites. And we are putting a lot of effort into researching and recommending the best sources of generating targeted visitors.

But when all said and done, it is still a numbers game and online success will only come to those who are prepared to play that particular game.

My Favorite Video Game

Monday, July 14th, 2008

There are many fantastic games that have developed for the Sony Playstation, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation Portable. From realistic sports games to brilliant fantasy role-playing games to thrilling and intense military games, today’s modern video games are so advanced, that it’s sometimes it’s hard to distinguish real life from the video game! Add to that fact that the music and soundtrack of today’s video games are so well orchestrated, that they belong in a feature film or on your Apple iPod Nano, rather than just on a video game.

One of my favorite video games of all time is a small, not-to-well known game that has all of the important elements that make for a quality video game in spades: interesting characters, challenging game play, humor, suspense and an absolutely breathtaking and magical musical score that I’m still looking to download onto my iPod Nano: the game is Medievil, which was designed and developed for the original Playstation and is now available for the Sony PSP.

There is something about this game that’s really intriguing and addicting at the same time. As the main character, you are Sir Daniel Fortesque, and you’re dead. However, through the magic of Sony Playstation Portable video game technology, you come back to life to defeat the evil wizard once and for all. It’s a simple premise that has been seen and played on many video game platforms, from Nintendo to the Microsoft Xbox 360. But, for some reason, it really works and works well on the Playstation and Sony PSP video game consoles.

Everything about this game really clicks. The music, which is definitely iPod Nano worthy, is never boring, repetitive or dull. Each part of the soundtrack corresponds beautifully with each unique level and area of the game, so that rather than playing a video game, you feel like your actually watching a spooky, scary and gothic movie – with you as the star! The graphics are amazing, and the voiceover work is some of the best that you’ll ever see – and hear – on the Playstation Portable!

There are many big time and big name video games that get all of the hype and the press. And, for the most part, the attention is well deserved, as the more popular games are often some of the best and most innovative titles ever created. But, once in a while, a smaller title gets released that is an absolute gem and soon becomes a cult classic video game. For me, Sony really hit a home run by releasing Medievil, and now that’s it’s available on the Sony PSP, it’s even better than ever!

Playing The Game: Sudoku

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Modern Sudoku was anonymously revived by a retired Hong Kong Judge Wayne Gould, as a logical game disguised as a numbers game. Most people do look at it as a numbers game but if you would see the way the solutions are derived, logic would surely be the key. It has caught on like wildfire and transcends the boundaries of countries with challenging puzzles in every form and style. Sudoku is not restricted to numbers for one can use colors or objects to represent the grid contents that work on the same basic principle without need of modification of the basic rules.

It is unique among the games currently published in either print or on the internet in the sense that it is different and unusual from other usually boring puzzles that we are attracted to when we are waiting in queue or waiting for our number to be called to be served. Most puzzles found in newspapers are simply word games in disguise that have lost appeal with most readers. Sudoku on the other hand needs not translation from language to language and can be understood by people from all ages. It is a rage in Japan, and is fast getting the attention of Americans and Europeans as the puzzle of choice for the present times to come.

Some people have been so challenged by these puzzles that a new form of depression is evolving out of the problem solving process. “Compulsive Sudoku Syndrome”, as the addiction is called is fast spreading and tickling the brain cells of most people who start out perplexed at the seeming simplicity but end up challenged so much that they cannot stop trying to solve a stubborn puzzle. This has been evident with some people who end up in a trance-like state wherein they are so captivated by the drive to solve a Sudoku puzzle. Others have claimed to have fallen into depression when they fail to solve a quite perplexing puzzle that eludes completion.

Popularity of the game has grown and grown to proportions that have had world contests like the one held in 2006 and again in 2007. Many variants of the game have also arisen as a result of its popularity that have the standard 3X3 grids expanded from 4X4 up to a claimed 100X100 sized grid. A 3D variant Roxdoku further challenged players that eventually led to a multiplayer game variant named Juxtapono. Many more variants have evolved from the basic forms that they are now commonplace in newsprint media and other publications that simply can’t resist having them to give readers a breather from their regular articles. It’s simplicity and the challenge created by these puzzles have offered relief from the already too common word puzzles such as cross words.

The basic games can usually be obtained as a small program from many sites on the internet that generate the uncompleted grids in any combinations that would be desired. Some forms have even revived interest in the hit Rubik’s Cube game named Sudokube that has numbers on the cubes instead of the previously used colors. Whatever form and shape they may take, they still follow the basic rule that no number should occur more than once in the 3X3 grid. That may be the key to it’s success, simplicity or rather the lack of it. The very simple rule if applied can become very complicated for the ones categorized as difficult.

Video Game Addiction

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

For most of us, video games represent a pleasant break in the day and a source of some entertainment. However a consumer concern group is seeking to raise the understanding in the general public that computer games misuse posses a significant and growing source of addiction in our society. This addiction is real and threatens the lives of many adults and children. It is not limited to children and young adults but affects members of the population at all levels of society and many occupations. However, the biggest threat is to children because they are vulnerable and they may be unable to recover from a serious addition formed at a young age.

People with true video game addictions substitute playing them for normal interaction with friends and family, and the time spent playing them is excessive to the point of interfering with work or school. The time spent at this activity steadily increases as the addiction grows and ending play can bring about withdrawal symptoms of irritability and moodiness. Addictive individuals can spend and average of 70 or 80 hours a week playing these games, reserving little time for work, social life, school or even sleep.

The signs of an addiction in children are easy for a responsible parent to spot. The biggest symptom is the time spent on the computer playing games. Video game time should be monitored just like television watching and the parent must make certain that both activities take place after the normal activities such as family socializing, homework and chores have been satisfied. If a child falls asleep at school often, it may mean that he or she is using sleep time to pay computer games. The child may then lie about the cause of tiredness. The child may also be irritable when not on the computer playing games. If these symptoms are spotted, it is time for the parent to enlist the child’s teachers, friend’s parent and a professional to help the child overcome this problem.

Adults are harder to monitor but a boss who notices an employee asleep at work or failing performance will certainly discuss the reasons with the employee. It is unlikely that the employee will admit his activity since video game use is usually characterized by feelings of guilt. Friends who notice a person dropping out of activities and becoming irritable or sullen should become involved and discuss the possibility of this problem frankly with afflicted person. It is not acceptable to sit by and wait for the problem to pass. Video game addiction can advance to physical addiction and symptoms such as Carpal tunnel syndrome. Sleep problems, back and neck aches, dry eyes and an increasing failure to maintain personal hygiene. The video game addict has replaced his or her real world with the virtual reality of the game. This person needs all the interest and help friends and family can give him and probably a healthcare professional and support group as well to surmount this problem.

Confused On Which Video Game System To Get

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Buying a gaming console can be a lot of fun. This is especially true in today’s day and age since there is so much competition out there. With all of this competition there are always new features being brought to the forefront. And of course competition breeds success time and time again; the gaming industry is no exception to this rule. But if you want to buy a gaming console you are going to have to know what you are doing. The fact of the matter is that sometimes you have to get quite creative.

For instance, if you want to buy a ps3 you may have to change your way of thinking due to the high demand that is surrounding these units. The same goes for people who want to but a Wii from Nintendo. There used to be a time when demand was not so fierce in the gaming world, but this is no longer the case. For this reason, the following three ideas should be considered if you are in the market for a gaming console.

1. The most obvious place to buy a ps3, Wii, or any other gaming console is at a retail or electronics store. These outlets are the first to get the new consoles in stock, and in turn the easiest way to buy. The only problem with this option is that you cannot always get what you need from a store like this because of all the competition. And in the case of highly anticipated items such as the ps3 and Wii the number of people standing in line opening day will be quite large.

2. When the store does not work out for you, the next step that you should take is going online. While you are on the internet, be sure to search auction websites such as eBay. There are many people who buy gaming consoles in bulk (as many as they can get from the store), and then resell them online for a large profit. But the problem with this is that for them to make a profit you have to spend more money. This means that a ps3 that retails for $599 in the store may cost you more than $1,000 online! Is this something that you are willing to put up with? Or would you be better off waiting a few months until the demand dies down?

3. You can also search to buy gaming consoles in the classified section of your local newspaper. Even though you may not see a lot of units for sale, when the demand is high there will be people using this way of advertising. In order to get the best selection you will want to search in big city, daily newspapers.

If you want to buy a ps3 of Wii you will want to look into the three areas listed above. You may find out that you do not have to look further than your local store; or maybe not. As long as you exercise all of your options you should be able to find the gaming console you are looking for if you are willing to open your wallet.

Are You Addicted To Your Video Game?

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Once a person plays a video game, chances are they will like and enjoy the game and continue to play until a new game comes into the arena. Many game players have stacks filled with video games. Many people have so much merchandise that if they were to open a game store, they wouldn’t have to worry about purchasing video games right away. Many video game players trade video games with friends, family and even strangers.

Several adults have become completely hooked on today’s video games. Many state that it is not an addiction, it is simple a way for them to relax. One begins to wonder how they can possibly relax when they move around, jump and shot at the screen with their wireless controllers. Many parents are concerned about their children playing video games religiously…during the summer time, when school is out, many play three times a day.

There are several ways to determine if video game playing is an addiction or just a fun harmless hobby. Many have claimed that they can stop at anytime. Here are a few points to determine if you are a video game-aholic

-If you own 50 or more video games. You become possessive if one of your family members moves your games. So you place a small sign on top of your game equipment.

-If it was up to you, you would play video games day in and day out.

-You trade video games more than once a week. You trade games more than a stockbroker trades stocks from the Stock Exchange.

-When you are playing a game you want to constantly win all the time.

-If there were a fire within your home and the only exit is a window from a 22nd floor apartment. The only way to escape is to slide down a rope onto a helicopter. Instead of helping others out as well as yourself, you neatly wrap a clothe around your vide collection and you send it off to safety.

Role-playing games have become very popular among video game players. Video game players can assume another character roll involved in the story within a game. Not too long ago games were played using multi-sided dice. These role-playing games should not be taken seriously. If you are searching for a website that sells video equipment Video Games Box has what you need.

Game Design And Innovation

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

If you want to get into the field of game design, you will need to have more than just an idea. Ideas are not worth anything by themselves. The reason for this is because it is very easy to come up with game ideas, practically anyone can think of game ideas- they are a dime a dozen these days. It all comes down to implementing your idea well. You will need to have a design document ready for your game, you cannot just jump right in and work on your game. Planning is a must in the world of game design, if you fail to plan, you are most certainly planning to fail.

What to do when the initial design isn’t fun?

First, start off with some initial planning about your game. Determine the roles characters play, the game mechanics and rules, and what the overall objective of the game would be. Try to make your game different from games that already exist; avoid direct clones. It is okay to design a game inspired by an existing game, but try to add your own twist to it.

A problem may arise however: What if, after you’ve actually implemented what you have planned, the game is not as fun as you thought it would be? Sure, it sounds fun on paper, but it can end up completely different than what you expected.

A good solution to this problem is to hire some testers that will play your game and give you opinions of it. You may have gone through several gameplay revamps of your games, and you should test them after each iteration to see if players are actually thinking it is fun. Thus, the final game may end up quite different than planned.

Is your game innovative enough?

Do you think that is it absolutely required to be innovative? Innovation is a bit overrated; the overall fun of the game is more important than innovation is. Even if you have a list of zany or weird ideas that you want to implement, they may not turn out to be that fun in the end most of the time.

After all, gamers are continuing to buy the titles with huge roman numerals after them, and you seldom hear complaints that “this game isn’t innovative enough”. Although one should avoid direct clones of other games, there maybe is such a thing as trying too hard to be innovative and not worrying about the fun factor.

Balance And Your Golf Game

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Golf professionals all have different opinions on improving your golf game, but most agree on one thing. Unless you keep your balance during the entire swing, you simply cannot have a good stroke. Keeping your balance should be easy right? If you are so tense that you’re crushing your club, tensing your entire body and trying to hit the ball to hard, it’s nearly impossible.

As a beginner playing golf, you’re told quite often to not hit the ball to hard. Staying focused and hitting the ball with the center of the club will give you a longer shot that a swing that doesn’t hit at the club’s center, no matter how hard. Establishing your balance frees you to hit the ball correctly.

Keeping your head still will allow you focus on the ball. With your eyes on the ball, this creates a foundation for keeping you balanced. It is imperative that you keep your head perfectly still and ensure it doesn’t move during your swing. Movements or distractions that disrupt your balance mean you lose focus on the ball.

Keeping your body relaxed is the key. Relaxing your muscles and body will prevent your head from moving during the swing.

Use a mirror to watch yourself. This allows you to quickly realize that you need to relax in order to keep your head still while you swing. Since your build and movements are not the same as mine, you’ll have to work out some of the details on your own. Work the most on keeping your head in the same position from start to finish through your swing. Doing this will let you focus on the ball and you will turn your hands at the right time.

If you can master keeping your head completely still, you’ll see several problems disappear altogether. Eventually, you will grip your club correctly every time, keeping your balance and keeping your head still, without even thinking.

A correctly formed follow through will also mean that you can keep your balance.

Concentrating on your balance, and keeping your head still will prevent you from swinging to hard or pulling your club away. The amount of strength you put into your swing will be just right, and you’ll stay relaxed and finish successfully with a smooth swing.

Enjoying a great game of golf requires keeping your balance. This isn’t a quick fix, it’ll take time but you should start seeing improvement quickly, but be patient. Focus on maintaining your balance, and your head in one position, and in almost no time at all you will be enjoying such an improvement your friends will be asking for your secrets.
